How is the OBEX^® waterproof?

The OBEX^® has a 2-stage protection system against water entry. This system is engineered to slow down any initial water movement and then completely block off entry into the case. While the first stage is effective against splashes and wading in the shallow end, the second stage acts as a stronghold against more intense situations like snorkeling and restroom mishaps.

How deep can this case go in water?

The case can go down to 1 meter (3 feet) deep under water for continuous submersion, or to 2 meters (6 feet) for up to 30 minutes.

I see small dots on the screen protector of my case. What are these for?

These are spacers that prevent watermarks from forming between your phone screen and the OBEX^® screen protector.

Can I keep my screen protector on and still install OBEX^® ?

The touch screen sensitivity will be affected if you don't remove your current screen protector. OBEX^® provides protection and a second screen protector will interfere with case performance.

Will the touch screen feel a little less sensitive?

The premium protection that the OBEX^® provides for your screen from water, dust, drops and snow does take time to adjust to. After some use, you will be able to discern how much pressure is necessary.

Will OBEX^® still protect my device if there is some damage?

OBEX^® protects your device from both external elements and impact. Due to possible variations in types and extent of damages, we cannot guarantee OBEX^®   to be in proper working condition for all types of damage. However, you can always verify by conducting a waterproof test if you drop and damage your OBEX^® to ensure it is still in proper working condition.  Please see the “Before Installation” section of this manual for instructions on how to conduct a waterproof test. As for impact protection, as long as all parts of the case are still able to stay intact, then your device should still have protection against impact from drops. Prompt replacement is recommended after any damages.

How do I charge my device or use headphones with this case?

You can access the charging port by using your finger to open the Port Cover and flap on the bottom side of case.  Once you open the cover, do not forcefully bend it further than its allowable range of motion.  You can access the headphone port on your device by using your finger to open the rubber silicone stopper on the top side of the case starting from one side of the stopper with a strip of protrusion. The elastic stopper is designed to not separate entirely from the case once open.

NOTE: While the Port Cover and rubber flap is open, the case is no longer waterproof. Once you finish using the ports, please securely place the rubber flap and Port Cover back into place again to enable waterproof protection.

Will the photo or video quality be affected by the case?

No, the photo and video quality will not be affected by the case.

Will the sound quality be affected by the case?

Because of the materials used, the sound quality will not be affected by the case.

Can OBEX^® protect against drops & impact?

Yes, the shock absorbent TPU and impact resistant Polycarbonate materials protect your device from drops and impact. This case has passed the MIL-STD-810G Military Specification Drop Test, which is the highest level of durability testing based on military requirements.

NOTE: Please do not use a damaged case to protect your device.  Contact SEIDIO to request a replacement or purchase another case.

Is my screen protected by this case?

Yes. Sides of the case surrounding the screen are designed to be slightly elevated in order to protect the screen from impact. Also, the built-in screen protector on the OBEX^® case features a 4H hardness rating to protect against scratches, and, unlike common PET screen protectors, can shield the screen from minor impact resulting from daily objects such as car keys, utensils, loose change, etc.
